By Hans Petermann. Excerpted from November 2003 Newsletter:

After much consideration of several potential sites for our next reunion, it was decided to hold it at Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, home of Eglin AFB, Duke Field, and the 8th Special Operations Squadron - our successor - from May 12-15, 2004. Plans are being made for a tour of the 8th S.O.S., the Eglin AFB Museum and other local attractions. To coordinate all these activities we have enlisted the support of the "The Reunion Brat," an organization with much experience in setting up reunions for service connected organizations. Brad has contacted the current CO of the 8th, LtCol Doug Galipeau, and he has graciously consented to be the speaker at our banquet on the 15th. We will disseminate the final details for reunion registration, schedules, tours, business meeting and banquet in a newsletter as soon as they are available.

The hotel selected is the Holiday Inn Sunspree, which is the Holiday Inn's new line of resort hotels. It is located on the beach, has two incredible lagoon pools, a fitness center, spa on site, convenience store, full service restaurant and lounge. They offer free parking and airport shuttle service at about $15 each way. All rooms have refrigerators and microwaves in them. The rates that have been negotiated are $99 a night plus tax for a studio suite, which includes 1 queen bed, 1 queen sleeper and has a kitchen, or $109 a night plus tax for a beachfront standard room with 2 double beds or 1 king bed. More details can be viewed at: www.holidayinnfwb.com.
